Chelsea will return to Premier League play on Wednesday evening, when they host Arsenal, and Blues manager Thomas Tuchel is scheduled to address at a news conference at about 1 p.m. this afternoon.
We’ll provide real-time updates.
On the subject of injuries
Tuchel says Kovacic is sidelined for the next two weeks with a “ligament issue.” He expects him to be out for no more than two weeks. Hudson-Odoi is still sidelined, and Chilwell will not be able to return until the conclusion of the regular season.
Tuchel says that the goal for Chilwell is to begin training before the conclusion of the season. Tuchel also said that a number of other players would have their fitness evaluated before to the game on Saturday.
Regarding the FA Cup finals
Chelsea manager, Tuchel, acknowledges that his team is ready to revenge their Carabao Cup final loss to Liverpool when they meet them again in the FA Cup final on Sunday.
In the midst of a “difficult” run of matches, Tuchel believes his players are well-motivated, adding that “this is exactly what you sign up for when you play for Chelsea.”
In regards to Werner and Lukaku
When asked whether Werner’s form may serve as motivation for Lukaaku, Tuchel responds that “he doesn’t need inspiration” but rather “just needs a spark” and that the striker is missing conditioning as a result of previous injuries.
Lukaku is a “possibility” to start, despite the fact that he is unable to play 90 minutes at the present.
Regarding the new owners
When asked whether he has any new information on the ownership issue, Tuchel responds emphatically, “Absolutely not.”
with regards to Chelsea supporters
Tuchel is taken aback when he is informed that this would be the first game in which only season ticket holders will be able to purchase tickets as a result of the fines that have been imposed. The manager confesses that he had forgotten, and he also adds that he would want to replicate the mood that existed during the Leicester game last season, when capacity was limited due to Covid-19.
On Chalobah
Regarding Chalobah’s inactivity lately, Tuchel claims that he is performing at a “amazing level,” but that selection choices have gone against him since James, Christensen, and Silva have all returned. “He’s handling it very well and is training really well,” adds Tuchel, who also predicts that Chalobah will return to the team in the near future.
Regarding Reece James
In light of James’ injury concerns, Tuchel claims that playing in the back three is “physically less taxing” for him than playing at wing-back.
In terms of James position, Tuchel said, “I like him in both positions.”
Regarding Jorginho
Regarding Jorginho, Tuchel claims that he has had a great deal of pressure while representing Italy, and that he “truly felt the pressure, which is natural.” He also claims that Jorginho is “never bashful, which is one of the reasons I adore him.”
When asked about seeming to be dissatisfied with Jorginho on the touchline, Tuchel says the player did a handful of things incorrectly, but that it is “nothing personal.”
And there concludes Thomas Tuchel’s contribution. Thank you for joining us today.
