It’s award season now – we’ve had FIFA awards, UEFA awards, PFA awards, and now it’s time for some fan awards.
Thee Chelsea players were named in the “Fans Footballer of the Year” awards’ top ten, as for on the Daily Mirror site as well as all of their many satellite newspapers.
Edouard Mendy was the top ranked at number 5, with Mason Mount at number 6 and Jorginho at number 9.
It’s interesting to see the differences here – Jorginho was the highest rated in the UFEA awards (after winning two UEFA titles) while the introduction of the fans vote element has clearly been a huge boost for Mendy.
His low ranking in the Ballon d’Or was the subject of much discussion, but he’s the top dog at Chelsea here – and rightly so.
N’Golo Kante and several others were close to cracking the top 10 after a successful year for the Blues across the board.
