Chelsea are ready to open preliminary talks with Leandro Trossard ahead of a concerted new year swoop, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League giants have made the Brighton attacker a top target ahead of his contract expiring next summer.
Chelsea will hold early talks with Trossard’s camp as they set their sights on getting an agreement in place.

Brighton are not willing to sell the Belgium international, 27, in January but face losing him on a free transfer next summer.
Trossard is out of contract at the end of the campaign, although Brighton do have the option to extend the deal by 12 months.
The £25million-valued attacker was in outstanding form before the mid-season break, with his 14 Premier League matches yielding seven goals and three assists.
That haul includes a hattrick against Liverpool at Anfield last month in Roberto De Zerbi’s first game in charge of Brighton.
Trossard, who has amassed 22 Belgium caps and five goals to date, made his first World Cup appearance off the bench against Canada on Wednesday (23 November).
The winger, who has previously been linked with Arsenal, joined Brighton from Genk in 2019 for a reported £18million.
He has notched 25 goals and 14 assists in 118 Seagulls games since then to repay that fee.
De Zerbi’s high-flying side sit seventh in the Premier League despite seeing their season disrupted by Graham Potter leaving for Stamford Bridge in September.
Potter is now looking to bring his old winger to Chelsea – after already raiding his former side for a number of key backroom personnel.
Just last week, the Blues finalised the arrival of the south coast club’s head of recruitment, Paul Winstanley.
