‘No way’: Some Chelsea fans stunned that one Blues star hasn’t passed to Lukaku in the PL

Chelsea supporters on social media were shocked by the statistic that showed Kai Havertz hasn’t made a Premier League pass to Romelu Lukaku.

Sky Sports revealed the number of times Lukaku has either received a pass from his teammates in the league this season, or visa versa.

Cesar Azpilicueta led the way in terms of serving the Belgian, supplying the striker 17 times.

Mateo Kovacic is clearly the no.9’s favourite, as he has obtained 16 pieces of possession from him.

Kai can’t find Romelu

Some figures were unsurprising.

Antonio Rudiger, Thiago Silva, Trevoh Chalobah, Edouard Mendy and Kepa Arrizabalaga are yet to be gifted a pass from Lukaku.

This is understandable, considering they are usually opposite ends of the pitch to the centre-forward.

Quite startling, however, is the amount Havertz has attempted to link up with Lukaku.

A big fat zero. Zilch. Nadar. Nil.

Not once has the young German located Lukaku in the top flight this year.

Understandably, Blues fans were totally baffled by this revelation.

Havertz and Lukaku lack cohesion

There really should be no excuses for Havertz and Lukaku’s almost non-existent partnership.

After all, the latter has made 11 passes into the former, but the favour is yet to be repaid.

And it’s not like Havertz hasn’t had the chance to pick out his colleague.

The pair have played five times together in the league, covering a total of 300 minutes.

Lukaku is pretty noticeable as well, considering his frame and general presence on the pitch.

It is a combination Thomas Tuchel will certainly want – and need – to work on for the future.
