Chelsea are desperate to sign Jan Oblak in the transfer window after Frank Lampard lost patience with Kepa Arrizabalaga but Atletico Madrid do not want to see him go.

Jan Oblak could land his dream number should he make the move to Chelsea this summer.

It will, however, mean one player will have to give up that kit to allow the Slovenia international to don his favoured top.

Frank Lampard wants to bolster his squad after a strong first campaign since taking over as boss of the Blues last summer.

Despite losing Eden Hazard and being unable to replace him as a result of a transfer ban, Chelsea have performed admirably.

They sit fourth in the Premier League and will appear in the FA Cup final against Arsenal.

And Lampard wants to build on his debut season in charge with a summer full of transfers.

Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner have already been signed and there are further plots planned for the likes of Ben Chilwell, Declan Rice and Kai Havertz.

But Lampard also wants to bring in a new goalkeeper and they do not get much better than Atletico’s Oblak.

After some high-profile errors from Kepa Arrizabalaga, the Spaniard has lost the trust of his manager.

However, United are interested in stealing in on the deal but Oblak is keen on a new challenge in a boost to Lampard’s aims.

The 27-year-old is regarded as the best goalkeeper in the world and has been wearing the number 13 since joining Atletico in 2014.

If he was to take the same kit at Chelsea, that would mean current back-up stopper Willy Caballero vacating the shirt.

But if Kepa is to be axed, it could see the Argentine land the No. 1 shirt.

The 38-year-old must have one eye on retirement but has signed a one-year extension keeping him at Stamford Bridge until 2021.

Meanwhile, Atletico boss Diego Simeone has issued a hands-off warning on Oblak, saying: “It is normal that they want a goalkeeper of the characteristics and value that Oblak has and it doesn’t surprise me because he is very good.

“For us, he is decisive, very important in the dressing room, he is our captain.

“Year after year he has managed to evolve in all the matches, from goalkeeper to his handling with the group, and hopefully he can continue with us.”
