Chelsea news and transfer gossip is coming in thick and fast and Express Sport is on hand to bring you all the very latest from Stamford Bridge.
Dean Henderson transfer
Chelsea will find it difficult signing Dean Henderson from rivals Manchester United, claims European football expert Gabriele Marcotti.
Goalkeeper Henderson has been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea reportedly ready to pay £50m for him. Chelsea have also been linked with a move for Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana.
And when asked between Henderson and Onana, Marcotti said a deal for the Ajax man would be easier to complete for the Blues.
“If you had to pick between Henderson and Onana, I would lean Henderson,” Marcotti told ESPN FC. “But you know what? Henderson means you have to deal with Manchester United, who are going to be extremely reluctant to sell him to a Premier League rival.
“So personally I think you’re better off with Onana, I think that seems to be easier. But I still think Kepa’s going to stick around.”
Forget Leon Bailey deal
Chelsea should not pay £85million for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey, says European football expert Gabriele Marcotti.
Express Sport understands Chelsea are lining up an £85million deal for Jamaica international Bailey.
But Marcotti believes Borussia Dortmund and England star Jadon Sancho would be a far better option for the Blues.
“Alright, with all respect to Leon Bailey I think these numbers are crazy,” Marcotti told ESPN FC. “£85m for Leon Bailey when Jadon Sancho, who is younger and a lot more talented in my opinion, can be had for not much more than that…”
Ousmane Dembele SALE
Barcelona have lost patience with Ousmane Dembele.
That’s according to Spanish publication AS, who claim Barcelona chiefs want him offloaded as soon as possible.
Dembele arrived at the Nou Camp from Borussia Dortmund in a deal worth £135million but he’s failed to justify that outlay having made just 51 La Liga appearances and scored 12 goals since August 2017.
Its unclear how much Barcelona would want for their injured attacker with Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal and Manchester United all previously linked with the 22-year-old at various stages.
In December, Spanish website El Desmarque reported that Dembele’s agent, Moussa Sissoko, had “met with executives from PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City”.
Lautaro Martinez latest
Barcelona are ‘closer than ever’ to signing Inter Milan forward Lautaro Martinez.
That’s according to a report from Spanish publication Sport, who claim the club’s president Josep Maria Bartomeu wants a superstar to revitalise the side with Neymar his only other alternative.
Zinedine Zidane’s Real Madrid are very interested in signing the Argentine striker, but his preference would be to join Barcelona to play alongside compatriot Lionel Messi.
However, Bartomeu thinks the main threat will come from the Premier League. Sport claim Martinez rejected an approach from Manchester United but is happy to speak with representatives from Chelsea and Manchester City.
Barcelona have been in talks with Martinez for months and are optimistic of securing his signature but they will NOT meet his £100million release clause.
Instead, Barca will look to drive the price down using players such as Arturo Vidal in exchange.
Juventus ready to make £25m bid for Chelsea 25-year-old star
Serie A defending champions, Juventus will reportedly make a £25m move for Chelsea full-back Emerson Palmieri this summer.
The Italy international has been heavily linked with a move away from the West London club in recent months having struggled to secure a regular spot in Frank Lampard’s starting XI.
The West London club are believed to be in the market for a new left-back this summer transfer window, and according to The Express, Italian champions will attempt to secure the services of Emerson in a £25m contract at the end of the current campaign.
Inter Milan have also been credited with a strong interest in the 25-year-old defender, who has been restricted to just 18 games in all competitions during the 2019-20 season.
Former AS Roma defender was a regular in the first half of the current campaign at Stamford Bridge, however, has not been involved in the Premier League since January 21 and has only made one of the Blues last five Premier League squads.
The Brazilian-born full-back has previously played in Serie A respectively for Palermo and AS Roma and once again could try his chance in the Italian top-tier with the reach challengers for the scudetto.
