Chelsea boss Frank Lampard is planning on signing at least five players in the summer transfer window.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard is planning an overhaul of his squad in the summer and is currently looking at bringing at least five new players to Stamford Bridge in the next transfer window. Lampard was backed in the January window with a £150million transfer kitty but the club failed in their attempts to bring in any reinforcements.
As a result this could see a busy summer transfer window for Lampard as he looks to strengthen all areas of his squad.
According to 90min, Chelsea are looking to add a striker, an attacking midfielder, a centre-back, a left-back and a goalkeeper.
Chelsea saw their January bid for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele rejected by the Ligue 1 club, but the Blues are expected to return with another bid in the summer.
However, the report also claims Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, who is in the final 18 months of his contract with the Gunners and has expressed a desire to play in the Champions League.
The 16-year-old midfielder is expected to leave St Andrew’s in the summer, with Chelsea, Manchester United, Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich all vying for the youngster’s signature.
As for adding another centre-back to his squad the Blues have expressed an interest in Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi.
The 32-year-old is having a fantastic season playing in a back-three alongside Stefan Radu and Luiz Felipe and reports in Italy claim Chelsea are monitoring the player’s situation at the Serie A club.
Speculation over Acerbi’s future at the Stadio Olimpico has increased after he recently changed his agent and hired, Federico Pastorello, who also represents Inter striker Romelu Lukaku.
According to FCInterNews via Football Italia, Chelsea have held preliminary discussions Pastorello about signing Acerbi.
Lampard is also looking to bring in a left-back to his squad as he hasn’t settled on a first-choice full-back this season, with Emerson and Marcos Alonso both given minutes.
Leicester City’s left-back Ben Chilwell has been a long-term target for Chelsea and while they were unable to sign the player in the January window they are expected to make another attempt in the summer.
Lampard has been unhappy with some of the performances from goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga this season and dropped the 26-year-old for six straight games after Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal in January.
Since Lampard’s decision Chelsea have been linked to several goalkeepers, including United’s Dean Henderson, who is on loan at Sheffield United, and Ajax’s Andre Onana.
However, Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport, claims the Blues are also keeping tabs on AC Milan star Gianluigi Donnarumma.
Despite his young age the 21-year-old is already closing in on making 200 appearances for Milan and his performances between the sticks has also earned him 16 caps for Italy.
However, Milan will demand a high price for their talented keeper and will not accept anything less than £47m.
