Chelsea could offer one player in swap deal to land Juventus star Miralem Pjanic

Miralem Pjanic could be making his way to Chelsea this summer, despite having already agreed terms with Barcelona.

The Bosnia and Herzegovina international looks set to depart Juventus this summer, with a number of clubs interested in his services.

Barcelona have been strongly linked with the 30-year-old, and reports suggest he has struck an agreement with the Spanish outfit.

However, according to Sky Sports Italia, that deal may not come to fruition, with Maurizio Sarri weighing up the idea of using the midfielder as a makeweight in a deal to land Jorginho from Chelsea.

Pjanic has made 167 appearances for the Old Lady, and has lifted six major trophies during his time in Turin, but looks set to leave that behind with a number of clubs looking to secure his signature.

He has reportedly already turned down Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain, such is his desire to secure a move to the Nou Camp, although a move their could be dependent on Brazilian Arthur Melo agreeing to move the other way.

With Juventus looking to avoid big transfer fees in the first coronvirus-affected transfer window, the club are looking into swap deals for their top targets – including Jorginho.

Jorginho has long been linked with a reunion with Maurizio Sarri, whom he worked under at Napoli before joining him in west London.

The Italy international recently admitted that he almost left Chelsea in his first season, such was the abuse he received for being a perceived disciple of Sarri’s unwavering brand of football.

‘Last year, fans were picking on me a lot because I’d arrived with another manager and, in my opinion, I ended up hearing some things that were honestly unfair,’ he told FourFourTwo.

‘But I’ve never challenged the views of the fans and other people who criticised me. Quite the opposite, actually – it gave me strength because inside I knew they were wrong.

‘Deep in my mind, it was like this: “I’m going to prove they’re wrong and work quietly like I’ve always done, because it’s never been easy for me”.’
