Mateo Kovacic’s injury is not as bad as initially feared and he has a chance of featuring against Liverpool in the upcoming FA Cup final, according to the Times.
This coming Saturday at Wembley Stadium, the Blues and the Reds will square off to determine who will win the FA Cup.
In their pursuit of an unprecedented quadruple this season, Liverpool are looking to win a second domestic title in addition to the EFL Cup, which they won earlier this season. However, before playing Liverpool, Thomas Tuchel’s team was thought to have suffered a serious injury blow as Kovacic had to be taken off the field due to a strong challenge by Daniel James during their 3-0 victory over Leeds United in the Premier League on Wednesday. This occurred during the match on Wednesday, and it was believed that Kovacic would not be able to play against Liverpool.
Tuchel reiterated that a miracle would have to occur for Kovacic to be eligible for selection for the match against Jurgen Klopp’s team.
The injury to the Croatian player, on the other hand, does not seem to be as serious as was first anticipated, which is good news for Chelsea.
Kovacic, who is scheduled to make his comeback to training on Friday, has a possibility of reaching full fitness in time for the match against Liverpool and playing in the game at Wembley Stadium.
Despite the fact that Chelsea could be in for some good news regarding the fitness status of their midfielder, Liverpool will not have the services of one of their own midfield stars come Saturday in the form of Fabinho, who is dealing with a hamstring injury. Chelsea will face Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
