Chelsea take on Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday with a chance to tighten their grip on third place in the standings.
Victory over Manchester City on Saturday lifted the Blues up to third, taking advantage of Leicester City’s slip up against Newcastle, to put themselves in prime position to finish in the Champions League spots.
It has been quite the turnaround for Tuchel since he arrived at Stamford Bridge four months ago to replace Frank Lampard, having lost just twice in 25 games since taking over from the club-record goalscorer at the helm.
The German has not been afraid to use the entire squad he has at his disposal and has been somewhat fortunate that he has only been missing Mateo Kovacic for an extended period of time.
Tuchel will be without Kovacic for the visit of Arsenal to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday and defender Andreas Christensen is also ruled out after sustaining a tendon injury in the win at City, though the diagnosis is not as bad as initially feared.
The double-header with Leicester could see Christensen return for one of those games but apart from the Dane and Kovacic, Tuchel has a clean bill of health for his squad selection for the London derby in the west of the capital.
Tuchel made five changes for the win at the Etihad, resting Ben Chilwell, Thiago Silva and Mason Mount entirely for the game.
There is good reason to bring at least two of the trio back for the visit of Mikel Arteta’s side, though Thiago Silva could well be held back for the FA Cup final against Leicester City on Saturday at Wembley.
So, how could Tuchel’s side line up? He’s not afraid to rotate his squad and with a huge couple of games coming up in cup finals, might have one eye on both of them.
One thing is almost certain, Edouard Mendy will take his usual spot between the sticks for the game having been impressive once again against Man City to continue his fine recent form.
With Silva perhaps held back and Christensen injured, Kurt Zouma could be in line for a rare start in Chelsea’s three-ma defence alongside Cesar Azpiliocueta and Antonio Rudiger.
Chilwell is likely to come back in on the left despite Marcos Alonso’s match-winning performance against City.
In midfield, Jorginho could come back in after being a substitute against Pep Guardiola’s team, and there is nothing to suggest Billy Gilmour shouldn’t keep his palace after impressing against Man City. It could also give N’Golo Kante a much-needed rest ahead of the FA Cup final.
Tuchel has options in the final third but it’ll be a huge surprise if Mount doesn’t get the nod, as well as Kai Havertz after he was an unused substitute on Saturday. That leaves one other spot up for grabs and we have opted for Timo Werner at the expense of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic.
Chelsea predicted team vs Arsenal: Mendy; James, Azpilicueta, Zouma, Rudiger, Chilwell; Jorginho, Gilmour; Mount, Werner, Havertz.
