Report: 25-year-old Tuchel favourite could be used in a swap deal to sign £100m rated player

Andreas Christensen may be used as part of an exchange if Chelsea were to try and land Declan Rice, according to the Express.

West Ham United’s talented midfielder was a priority signing throughout Frank Lampard’s reign.

The former Blues boss even admitted in a Q&A session ahead of London Football Awards on April 29 that he was a ‘big fan’ of Rice and wished he’d brought him to Stamford Bridge.

Lampard lost his job before his wish was ever granted.

However, Chelsea may revisit this transfer saga again in the summer.

In an attempt to lure Rice back to the club he began his footballing career with, the Blues could offer West Ham a few of their own stars in a swap deal.

talkSPORT suggested that David Gold and David Sullivan would be looking for over £100m if Chelsea wanted to pay outright for the England international.

Therefore, any add-ons might lower the cost somewhat.

One of these potentially involved in the switch is Christensen, a man reborn since Thomas Tuchel took over from Lampard in January.

The 25-year-old has featured in 12 of the 17 matches following Tuchel’s installation, regularly standing in for Thiago Silva.

Sending Christensen away to the Hammers would be a massive turnaround considering he is still in line for a new contract (Telegraph).

Other players who may be involved in this trade is Ruben Loftus-Cheek, currently on loan at Fulham, and Tammy Abraham, who’s future at Chelsea remains uncertain.
