Thomas Tuchel drops hint about his main Chelsea front three after Crystal Palace victory

Thomas Tuchel might have found his first-choice front three as he explained about his team selection for the 4-1 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

It is safe to say that Tuchel got his team absolutely right at Selhurst Park, and the three attackers in particular.

Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, Mason Mount; every single one of them performed and was involved in all of the four goals.

Havertz scored the first goal before setting up the second goal for Pulisic, who also grabbed the fourth goal, while Mount provided the assist for the third goal with a superb free-kick.

These three, alongside Timo Werner who was rested for the game, might be Chelsea’s main offensive line for the remainder of the season as Tuchel seems to want more consistency.

“I think right now is not the time to try too much stuff,” he told Chelsea TV about how he decided his front three at the weekend.

“Against Porto, we went with Timo, Kai, and Mason.

“The decision today was that, ‘OK, Kai [hasn’t] played so much, so he can try to do better, you get another chance to show you can play better than against Porto’.

“For Mason who did very well on the right side [v Porto], ‘OK, do the same again’.

“For Christian, it was the moment for Timo to take a breath, because he was overloaded and overworked, and to let Christian continue his positive run.

“So the time is on to fight for your place. Now is not the time to try new stuff and to change a lot.

“This is my opinion, and the guys showed up today.”
