Malang Sarr will be available to feature against Chelsea for Porto in their Champions League quarter-final clash.
Under UEFA’s guidelines, players who are on loan are allowed to face their parent club in European competitions.
This means that Sarr could face the team he signed for last summer.
He was one of six new recruits to join the Blues before the 2020/21 season got underway.
The Blues acquired Sarr from Nice on a five-year contract.
His former manager and Arsenal icon, Patrick Vieira, described him as having “the personality of a leader” (Sport365).
However, the 22-year-old was immediately sent out on loan before even stepping foot inside Stamford Bridge.
After a brief period in limbo without a club, Sarr eventually settled on Porto.
The young Frenchman has played 19 times for Sergio Conceicao’s side this term.
One of these appearances arrived in the previous Champions League round versus Juventus.
Sarr came off the bench to help silence Cristiano Ronaldo and ensure Porto were part of the final eight.
This gave a good glimpse into what Chelsea are missing and potentially what they will be facing next month.
6th of April is the date that Sarr could truly announce himself into Blues folk law, for better or for worse.
